Knowledge Base
What is Kbase?
Kbase is the Knowledge Management System for ESR which provides answers to all the commonly asked questions about ESR functionality and the implementation approach. It’s a web based tool that enables you to access a range of important information primarily relevant to your local ESR implementation. It is aimed at Group Project Managers, HR and Payroll Leads in particular but is available to anyone involved in the implementation of ESR. Kbase can provide you with information about ESR training, contact details for members of the ESR Project team, as well as key lessons learnt.
Why is a Knowledge Management System required?
Until now, throughout the development of ESR, there has been no single way of capturing the wealth of accumulated learning and experience in a way that can be easily accessed by a wide audience.
The same questions are being asked and answered repeatedly therefore, a knowledge management tool has been sought to bring a wide variety of information together so that it can be shared and put to good use by everyone involved in the implementation of ESR.
Knowledge Management is a term that describes the capturing of varied information in a structured manner to permit easy retrieval by the user.
The Knowledge Management system that has been selected for use by the ESR Project is known as Kbase.
Kbase is a web-based tool, which means that as long as your PC can access the web, and you have an authorised login id and password to Kbase, you have access to the wealth of accumulated knowledge stored on the system 24/7.
What type of information is stored on Kbase?
Controlled Documents
Kbase is not designed as a document management system, and although there are controlled documents included, it's main value is seen as being there to provide an easy lookup facility for all those frequently asked questions that are likely to be asked by anyone involved in the implementation of ESR (because they have already been asked before).
Frequently Asked Questions
As a team everyone has varying degrees of knowledge on different aspects of the system, from experience these frequently asked questions fall into two categories
- Implementation type questions
- Functionality type questions.
Frequently asked questions, are known on Kbase as FAQs.
