Smartcard enablement update

Since April 2009 we have been working with and supporting NHS organisations all over England with the move of ESR to NHS CRS Smartcard access.  Over 80% of organisations have committed to a data load slot before the end of August.

Following these activities, access to ESR will only be available by Smartcards, except for NLMS and Employee Self Service users (where this has been agreed with the Central Team).  Traditional username and password access is likely to be turned off during October 2009 - the exact date will be communicated to the NHS, and on this website, as soon as it is agreed.

Letters have been sent to ESR Executive Sponsors at all NHS organisations to advise them of this information.
