Solution Design

ESR is more than simply an IT system, comprising both the new software (configured to meet NHS requirements) and the various best practice processes that have been developed to work in conjunction with the system.

ESR underwent an extensive design phase, which included representatives from:

• HR and payroll staff from NHS Trusts
• NHS supra organisations (Workforce Development Confederations, Deaneries and Strategic Health Authorities)
• The Department of Health
• The Welsh Assembly
• The Central ESR Team

In all, over 250 representatives from these organisations were involved in the solution design.
